Invisalign® can work for you, just as it has for over 1,000,000 smiles!

A confident smile isn’t the only benefit of correcting your dental issues. With custom-made Invisalign aligners, your health can be positively impacted as well. If you think you need braces, but would like to explore a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing alternative, contact our Synergy Dental team for a consultation to see if you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment. Drs. Montgomery and Newkirk are highly trained in Invisalign technology and can help you through the decision process.

Invisalign braces are custom-fitted, nearly indetectable aligners that are placed into your mouth to help straighten your teeth. They look quite similar to tooth-whitening trays.

What is Invisalign®?

The Invisalign system is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth and achieve the dazzling smile you’ve always dreamed of. Using advanced 3-D computer imaging technology, the Invisalign treatment plan maps out how your smile will be improved, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth — and your teeth only — to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, until the final position of your teeth is achieved. Your Invisalign treatment time will be determined by Dr. Montgomery or Dr. Newkirk, based on your specific needs.

How will Invisalign effectively move my teeth?

Like brackets and arch wires are to braces, Invisalign aligners move teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force on your teeth. The main difference is that Invisalign not only controls forces, but also the timing of the force application. During each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move. These movements are determined by Dr. Montgomery or Dr. Newkirk as he maps out your unique Invisalign treatment plan.

What are aligners made of, and what do they look like?

The virtually invisible aligners, which are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the Invisalign treatment plan, look similar to tooth-whitening trays. Invisalign aligners are custom-made for you and only you to move your teeth in the sequence determined by Dr. Montgomery or Dr. Newkirk.

Why Invisalign?

  • Invisalign braces are virtually invisible. Most people will never know you even have them in.
  • Commonly implemented. More than 1,000,000 patients worldwide have been treated with Invisalign.
  • Invisalign is known to resolve a broad range of orthodontic issues, included overly crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, and uneven bites.
  • Invisalign is removable. Unlike braces, you have the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you normally would for fresh breath and good oral hygiene.
  • Does not involve metal brackets or wires that could cause mouth irritation.
  • Ability to preview results. Using 3-D imaging, Invisalign allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan in advance so you can see how your teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
  • Fully FDA-approved: In 1998, Align Technology, Inc. received the necessary 510K clearance from the FDA to sell and market its Invisalign aligners as a Class II medical device.

Who can perform Invisalign treatment?

While Invisalign can be used with virtually any treatment philosophy, special training is needed. Drs. Montgomery and Newkirk have completed specialized instructional sessions to become trained Invisalign providers.
